Best double ever!

This stroller is awesome! I use it for my 7 month old and my almost 4 year old and he still fits just fine. I've also had him and my almost 5 year old sit in it together when I didn't have the baby with me and they both love being able to recline at the same time to rest on a big shopping trip. And the leg rests actually accommodate older kids so that they still have a place to put there feet. All the other double's that we tried first of all they didn't work for older kids and 2nd they didn't have a place for the feet without them raising there legs way up.

The steering wheel is amazing as well! There is not a single double stroller on the market that you can easily steer one handed EXCEPT the Duette. It makes shopping so much easier when you have a stroller that is so much easier to steer.

We love how the infant seat snaps on as well too. Sometimes right in the middle of the store we will swap the seats around because my son will decide that he wants to entertain the baby so I will quick flip the seats around so that they face each other. Its SOOOOO COOL! Oh and I still love the floating harness that Peg has on all there strollers. Its so nice for the kids to be able to lean forward instead of being pinned down to the back of the seat.

You will not regret this purchase!
Awesome

This is a great product if you have twins. If you have Peg Perego infant car seats, you can just use those and snap them in, or as they get older use the included seats in any configuration (each child can face any direction.) It folds up into a not too large state for realtively easy transport. It is also very sturdy and stable.
The Rolls Royce of Double Strollers

I've really enjoyed my Duette... sure it's heavier than others, but it's more stable that anything else I've looked at... and BELIEVE ME I shopped around!! Like the other mom said, if you're a whimp or you have a tiny car don't buy it and then whine about it all over the internet. This is a very versatile stroller that's also gorgeous. And when it comes to having a steering wheel... you can't get any better! I've read so many reviews about front to back doubles that are ridiculously hard to steer. Anyway, I love it!
Sure its heavy - so is a Mercedes Benz

Mine was not missing any parts, although the box looked like it had been damaged during a Customs inspection. This is a robust, well made stroller for two. I have a 35 pound toddler and a new born, and ALL the other strollers I examined were flimsy, too small or both. While its probably not worth the selling price, it is in a class by itself so the manufacturer can ask for top dollar. If you're a small woman or you own a compact car you might want to look at a different stroller. If you want a sturdy stroller for two that will last for years - well, you get what you pay for.
Go for an older model!

We are expecting twins in 2 months or so and I have been on the quest for the perfect stroller. Truthfully while there are a lot of TANDEM strollers out there there aren't a lot of TWIN strollers. One kid almost always gets shafted and they work best for an older and younger kid, not twins.

With the two Graco tandems, the kid in front can't recline all the way - not good for two kids the same age who will both be in the "napping in the stroller" phase at the same time. You're forced to use the buckets with these early on and I don't want to have to use a bucket to put an infant in the stroller. I hate the snack tray on the front of the glider (has to be popped off, not swung open) and I hate how the back kid in the Quattro seems squished and fenced in.

Lack of recline for front kid carries on across many brands of tandems. Combi, Safety 1st, PP Tender, etc.

The Kolcraft Contours approximates perfection... seats are equal, kids can recline (so suitable for newborns)... main problem is seats are SMALL and I see the stroller outgrown at 2 - 2 1/2 which is TOO SOON in my opinion. (My son is 4 and still rides in his Quattro single from time to time)

Really for good, equal, twin worthy tandems, there are two options - PP Duette or Inglesina Domino. Both pricey - and I can't find an Inglesina in person anyway which makes me scared to order one.

I saw the new Duette in a store and it was ... all right. It has some great features - the seats will hold an older/larger child. The seats can be moved about to face mom, face forward, face each other, face away. BOTH seats recline flat (or near enough that it's not worth quibbling!) Sun shades are good! Seats are EXACTLY the same! Biggest drawbacks are price (high!) and the steering wheel (anyone else worry it is one more thing to break?? And what will THAT cost you??) It's also HUGE and kind of annoying to fold - seats must be removed - but that's worth it IMO for the price of equal seats. (And removing the seats is EASY, just an extra step)

We ruled it out, though... for now.

Recently I discovered the world of the used Duette... and I just bought one from 2002. They did NOT have the steering wheels then which makes it seem so much less cumbersome. But all other features are there - great seats, canopies, etc. Wheels are smaller but still handle well. My 4 year old can sit in it quite happily - and he can climb in and out himself which I am not sure would hold true for the Inglesina (seems taller). And the price... one-fifty. It fits behind the back row of our Toyota Sienna so it's not too huge.

I am quite happy with this purchase for that price - and trust me, I am a die-hard Peg Perego hater so that means something. But the Duette is a winner for twins IMO. Can be used from birth till 4. No one gets shafted. Can't beat that. My one real complaint is the basket is huge but not very accessable - you have to really shove things under seats and/or take seats out to put things in. It would be nice if it could fold without removing seats, but again, at the used price - happy to deal with this.

I'd give the old models 4-5 stars and the new ones maybe 3. They are just too much money and I don't trust that steering wheel! But the old model is awesome. Look for one!

the duette is a horrible double stroller

Do you want a dependable double stroller that you can count on to be usable when you are out and about with your children? DO NOT BUY A DUETTE!! If you enjoy continual service problems, paying shipping and handling for parts that need to be replaced soon after you get your overpriced stroller and something that is so big and heavy that you need a helper to get it in and out of the van - well, then, the duette might be for you! Just be sure to buy a back up stroller so that you can still go places while you are waiting for your replacement parts!!!! Luckily, this is my third double stroller since we have many children. The others (Graco duos) lasted years and are still usable. The premium expensive one has been a huge waste of money and a source of continual frustration. Be warned!
If you think this is a Rolls Royce, I have a nice bridge in Brooklyn for you....

We have 4 kids varying in age from 1-19. We needed a front to back double for ease of shopping, etc. We have used the Pag Perego interchangable singles with infant seats and bases, etc., so we thought we would go for the almost $1K price tag and buy the "Rolls Royce" of strollers.

I guess I should have learned from our experience in the USA with Italian cars: They look fantastic and are beautiful on the outside, BUT THEY JUST DO NOT WORK!! That's why they don't even sell Fiats here anymore. Obviously, Italy is fantastic on fashion design for appearance and terrible in engineering for function!!

Without going into every detail, let's just say that it was designed by an imbecile! Many internal parts of the steering mechanism are made of plastic instead of metal and fail often. Ours has failed 5 times in the first year! The steering mechanism is operated internally by BICYCLE GEAR CABLES!! There is no backup system, so if a cable breaks when you are away from home, the stroller is unusable!

On 2 occasions, our Nanny was walking miles from home and the cable snapped and she was stranded with our 2 babies for hours! No way to move the stroller, and she could not carry both kids! It was horrible!

Peg Perego is lucky they have not been mired in lawsuits for this...or maybe that's why they send me the parts to try and fix it free each time
HATED IT, tried 7 others

I bought the model from 2005, but it was so bad I feel it's worth saying here just in case none of this has been fixed:

I had done well over 20 hours of research on double strollers. Parly because I am obsessed! :), and partly because I was in search of the "perfect" double stroller. I looked at the McClaren (hated having no snack tray), the Combi Twin Savvy, the Phil & Ted (the one with the second child almost touching the floor and NO basket - are we joking?) Aria Twin, Bob Dualle, Peg Perego Twin Aria, Zooper double and this one. Oh I was given the Graco Duo Glider and can't say enough bad about that one either. Although it's better than this one!!!!

I chose this stroller because of all the features, looks, and mainly because I had used my Peg Perego Pilko P3 for almost 3 years and used it every single day and loved it (for the most part).

First of all this stroller is heavy, heavy, heavy. And yes friends, this makes a huge difference in your life - especially if you are petite or just don't want to lift a 40 lbs. stroller all the time.

I think the biggest problem is that...and get this...you had to UNLOCK and REMOVE EACH SEAT to fold it up!!!! What in god's name were they thinking?? Yes you have to remove the really heavy seat from the "chassis" (metal frame) not once but twice with each seat, (oh and they didn't fold up) put those heavy and bulky things in the car and THEN fold up the huge frame or chassis and put that in too! I thought this wouldn't be a problem but just imagine your children are tired and crying, you are getting them in the car, trying to fold the stroller which takes a long time, someone is honking at you waiting for your parking space....The first time I did this I just burst into tears! Anyway I thought this was the WORST problem with it. Also, on that note it took up THE ENTIRE space of my huge Ford Expedition trunk - and that's WITH the 3rd row of seats folded down!!! And I wasn't about to stack anything on top of an almost $800 stroller, so my trunk was a dedicated stroller holder. Very unpractical.

The storage was a joke. The basket may look huge, but it's so shallow! And with the seats in there you actually can't fit hardly anything.

It handled so horribley I was going crazy. I could NOT push my 35 lbs. toddler and newborn - let alone try to turn. The handle had this crease where the pieces connect and that would dig into my skin. AHHHH!!!! Nightmare! Even my husband hated pushing it and said to me "I don't care how much, just PLEASE buy another stroller!" I looks like they have improved the handle now, but please test drive this before purchase. Don't order without trying it out!

I will say the seats were huge, plush and very nice and I have a huuuge toddler who was quite roomy. The price you pay for that is the weight and bulkiness. The sun shades could not be better and bigger. But that's it! The rest sucked so hard.

I could not return it so ate it big time and sold it for a lot less elsewhere. I then bought the BOB Dualle and LOVED it so much. You can read my review on it's page. It served me for 3 years and then I sold it for a good amount and it's still going strong.
