The Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem Stroller is everything we have been searching for in a double stroller!
I can't stop grinning as I proudly wheel it along!
We have a 2 year old and a 4 month old.
As we had a Bugaboo Frog for our first child, we've been waiting for something just as good (but for 2 kids) to come on the market. In our opinion, the Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem Stroller fits the bill perfectly!
WE LOVE IT!
Our first double stroller was a side by side. It's width & it's weight made it totally impractical. It had to go.....
We were prepared to pay a lot of money for a new stroller, if it was the PERFECT stroller for us. We were considering a Jane Powertwin (triple the price of the Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem Stroller) - which still wouldn't have met all our needs anyway..... So when we discovered the Kolcraft Tandem, we couldn't believe the quality, for such a great price! It's perect for us!
We particularly love:
+ the flexibility in seating options
+ the enormous shopping basket
+ the easy-open armrests to make it easy to get in & out
+ the toddler step - for climbing in and out
+ the drink holders & knick knack compartment (perfect for your mobile phone!)
+ our MAXI COSI Cabrio fits in the car seat adaptor!!
+ the seats are comfortable for our 2 year old
+ it's easy to push
+ it's easy to manouvre
+ it fits through doorways easily
+ it's easy to get up curbs, even with the heavier child in front
+ it's easy to fold up
+ it fits in our VW Golf easily
+ it looks fantastic!
The only negative is that it doesn't come with a rain cover - something that we need because we live in Ireland! We're planning on using our Bugaboo rain cover for one seat, and purchasing another cover for the other seat. Hopefully that will work.....
We bought our Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem Stroller online through Amazon and had it delivered to our hotel in the States when we were over there.
We usually have both kids facing each other and they love it! So far we've had no trouble with leg room. The footrests adjust anyway, to make more room.
At first it felt very long, like driving a train - TOOT! TOOT! But we soon got used to it's length & it's fine....
It's a real head-turner too, because it looks so good and people haven't seen anything like it before!
So we give this product 5 stars! It may not be everyone's perfect double stroller, but it's definitely ours!

It's so hard to find a tandem stroller that does it all. I think this one really does, though! My husband put this one together yesterday. Our three year old son loves it (he's 36 lbs and about 3'3") and so does our 9 month old son. We love it too. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it takes up about 1/3 of the space in the back of our Chevy Avalanche. That's a LOT of space. It's a little heavy to lift, but not to push. It really does seem like the cadillac of tandem strollers. Well made and has plenty of storage room. Best of all, it has TWO parent cup holders that fit just about every cup we own. I give this stroller five stars for the following reasons:
- Easy to push
- Kids seem VERY comfortable
- Tons of configurations to fit every need
- Came with an adapter for infant seat
- Great storage
- Snazzy look
Happy shopping! |

My oldest son was only 6 months old when I found myself pregnant with my second, so a double stroller was going to be a must!!! I purchased a jeep double stroller second hand thinking it was the one I wanted. After my second arrived we took it out for our first test drive - it stunk!!! My oldest son was 14 months when the baby arrived & he's a big boy - 36 inches tall & 32lbs. The jeep stroller wouldn't turn with any ease with both of them in there. It was impossible!!! So we sold the jeep & started hunting for a new one.
I finally decided on this one. I wasn't sure since I had to order it without having seen it or getting to try it out first, but since it can be returned to the store without fees & I got free shipping, I felt it was worth a shot.
It arrived very quickly & I put it together & took it for a test run around the living room! WOW!!! It turned so easily even with the weight of my son! I've been using the stroller for 4 months now & it's great.
It's so versatile with all the options of the ways the seats can go!!!
So far we're still using just the 1 seat & car seat adapter, but I can't wait to try out both seats. All the moms in my mommy group are jealous! I would definately recommend this to anyone. It even works well with the size of my son. I read other reviews before purchasing it & I don't see the problem. My son is very big for his age, but he fits fine & loves riding in it. The seat & leg rest fully recline so he can nap very easily.
There's tons of room in the basket for stuff, has 2 cup holders, & even a small covered compartment for your keys or cell phone. I have a huge diaper bag & have no problem getting it in & out.
The only complaint I have about this stroller is when getting it out & putting it away. You have to take the front seat off to collapse it. It's not difficult by any means, just another step. It's just a little more time to get it out & put it away. I love this sroller for long walks, trips to the mall, the zoo, or a day at the amusement park. It's just not ideal for hopping in & out of the car for quick trips in & out of stores.
This is a large, bulky stroller & a little heavy, but it's wonderful - just write it off as weight lifting!!! |
Great options, only a few downfalls, but in the end a great double stroller

I reluctantly bought this stroller from Amazon, as you cannot see it in any of the stores and test drive it. I was pleasantly suprised to find that this stroller has everything I needed. Most of the other reviews are right on!
Pros:
-the incredible # of options it gives you.
-steering and handling is amazing compared to the big graco strollers
the shocks/wheels are very well made and make for a smooth ride for little babies
-the oversized basket and sun shades are great
-the child that rides in the back seat still gets a good view, where as with other strollers they are stuffed into a small back seat with a view of the kid in front only.
-the fabric is incredibly durable and the color is great for little babies and I feel safe pushing it with cars able to see us coming.
Cons:
-The seats are a bit small, but my son is in the 90% for height and weight and he fits just fine at almost 2 years of age. And if you test other strollers such as the graco duo, and the eddie bauer tandem, you will find the front seat to be too small for larger toddlers
-Difficult to fold and VERY heavy, but who doesnt need a workout? If you remove both seats, fold it down, put it in your car, and then put the seats in separately it works and will fit in even the smaller trunks of sedans.
-the infant carseat adapter is goofy. You have to put a strap over the seat (like a seat belt) to secure it. The picture doesnt show that well. My husband built in a bar that allows my Peg Perego carseat to snap in securely without using the belt.
-it is huge, and long, but not much bigger than other full size double strollers. And it is built well and I expect it to last longer.
Overall, it isnt perfect. But I think it was impossible to find the perfect stroller for my newborn and toddler. I dont think there is one out there that gives you all the options that this one has, that folds down to be as small as a single stroller, that will accomodate an infant carseat (of many brands)and that weighs less than 40 pounds. |

| I just got a Contours Tandem with the birth of my second child (first child is 18 months) and I love it so far! I think it is extremely flexible (I love that I can take one kid, move the seats around, use the infant car seat, etc.). So far I have been able to load it into a car fairly easily and LOVE the colors. The fabric is very high quality and easy to clean too! |
Great Stroller for Manhattan!

I have 15 month old twins and live in Manhattan. This is the cheap bugaboo. It is beautiful to look at, very easy to push (particularly when you compare with the peg perego duette, which is what I had before this) and the kids love it!
I would NOT recommend it for the folks in the suburbs: it is not a stroller you want to be lifting to put in the trunk of your car everyday. This is just common sense: different strollers serve different purposes..
For a New Yorker who walks all the time, this is, in my opinion, the best tandem made. Yes - Kolcraft could make the seats larger, but I would still purchase this regardless! |
Best of the doubles

I checked into every double stroller out there. The best place to really look...take a trip to Disneyland! Seriously, you'll get to see just about every one there and ask parents about them too - which I did. After all the good and bad and my own toying....I think this was the best. Not only that, it's quite rare to find a stroller where you have the flexibility to turn the seats around or remove altogether if shopping etc. Best things besides moving seats around:
-Basket is quite large and is still actually accessible unlike most after getting the kids in
-The handle bar adjusts, so it's ergonomic and has the drink holders etc.
-Canopy extends quite far for excellent sun protection
-Kids front handle bars can open on either side or be removed completely
-Both seats recline
-Maneuvers very well...it's like the Dyson of strollers
-And if you have more than 2 children, the handy-dandy walking handle grips on the side are good for kids too to stay close and feel all grown up
I'd say prolly the only 2 cons or things I didn't feel 100% great about is that when folded up it's still kinda bulky...and the foot locks on the wheels aren't the easiest to unlock with your foot. Of course to lock in place a stroller big enough to hold 2 kids and everything else...maybe a heavy duty foot lock is a good thing. |
PERFECT!

| I saw this stroller for the first time on Amazon.com and fell in love! However, upon reading some of the reviews about it being "too heavy" and taking to long to diassemble to put away, I almost did not purchase it. But I am so glad I did! As far as the weight-are you people serious?? Have you never lifted a toddler?? It is not much heavier than my 3 year old!-It isn't like you are carrying it on your back accross the desert lol! Most of the time it is just unloading and reloading in car right? Seriously, it's not that heavy. Onto it taking too long to disassebmle-NO WAY. It literally takes me about 45 seconds to take off the seats, fold and put it in my car. Bottom line, I LOVE this stroller! I have gotten so many compliments on it and everyone I know wants one-even people I don't know stop me to ask where I got it! |
Can't count the number of people who've stopped me to ask about this stroller....

I love it!!!!!
My only qualm is that it's a little heavy. But it's a DOUBLE-STROLLER. It should have some weight to it!!
You can face your children in virtually any direction: both towards you, both facing out, facing each other or one facing out while the other faces in. The coolest feature ever!
I have a 3-year-old and a near 2-year-old. I face them in opposite directions so they aren't kicking each other.
I love that the seats are super easy to assemble!!! Just compress the buttons on the side, the seat lifts off. And you can either put it away (if only one child that day) or change it to an alternate position.
I love the huge basket underneath - it will hold at least 4 fully-stuffed shopping bags.
Also, it has the ability to snap virtually any infant car seat into place. We used this SO much when my son was an infant and my daughter was a toddler. We would just keep one seat off and securely snap the car seat into place (there are tabs - it's incredibly easy). Then, when the child is old enough, you just add the second seat.
I love that the seats recline. Many a nap has taken place in this stroller.
Now - truth? Good at: malls, amusement parks/fairs, zoos, large community gatherings.
Better to take a more lightweight stroller if you are going on a walk in the 'hood or someplace where only one child needs confinement.

We have had this stroller for about 2 months now and use it daily as we live in an area where we can walk to a lot of parks, stores, etc. Our daughters are 22 months and 2 months and so far we are very pleased. I find it very easy to maneuver and the storage underneath is so big that anyone who goes with us usually ends up putting their purses, bags, cameras, etc. underneath as well. I find the reviews that all talk about how heavy and big it is a little surprising, because I have yet to find a double stroller that isn't heavy or big. So unless you have an extra set of hands to wheel two strollers, I think you just learn to deal.
Also, for anyone who owns a Chicco infant car seat, we contacted Chicco to see what they would recommend for a double stroller that was compatible as they do not currently make them (how sad) and I was having a very hard time finding information on that. This one came recommended by the person we spoke to and it does work perfectly with the car seat adapter, which is included with the stroller.
My only one complaint is that it does not have cup or snack holders for the kids. There are two cup holders for the adults but they are odd-sized. They're too big for a can of soda or a bottled water and these usually end up spilling or falling out, but they are too small for a coffee tumbler. So, I usually just put drinks down below in the never-ending storage. |
LOVE IT!!!

| I thought I might have problems getting around in the stores with this stroller, but I was amazed that I didn't have anymore difficulty than I did with my single seat stroller. I love that I can change the seating around to whatever configuration I need. Again I just LOVE IT!!! |

I LOVE this stroller. I have a five month old and a 2.5 year old. The stroller fit in the trunk (with nothing else in it) of my Honda Civic and is so easy to arrange the seats. I have a mini van now and its a breeze to get in and out (its heavy, but its a double, what do you expect?). The bucket seats are unfortunately not that accommodating in terms of leg room for my toddler, but that's my only complaint. She still falls asleep in it, so it can't be that uncomfortable! The under basket is HUGE and I love the double cup holder.
I have a girlfriend who spent 1,000+ on her double and it has no cup holders, heavier and overall not as good of an investment. I'd recommend this stroller to anyone looking for a double.
A+++ |
Great for Twins!!!

We searched forever for the right stroller. I have read all the reviews and we decided on this one for several reasons.
1. It has parent tray with cup holders
2. You can face the children any way you want
3. Holds 2 infant car seats
4. LARGE basket that is ACCESSIBLE underneath - even with children in seats or infant car seats on!
5. Excellent maneuverability.
6. Although snack trays were not on there - we got some from one step ahead. We have to have snack trays for when they are older.
Cons: It is heavy - ALL TWIN STROLLERS ARE HEAVY! Just comes with the turf.
2. It does take up alot of room in the car.
Our boys are now 8 mo - we still love it!!!! Although there are times I wish I had an umbrella stroller for quick - cause with twins everything takes longer. So any time I can save I try. But I still love this stoller.
Just for note we tried the: Peg Peregos, Graco Quattro, and even double snap n go (not accessible basket and very small) |
Awesome!!! we compared to graco duo

We have a 13 month old boy and are expecting twin boys in july. We went to the store to compare this stroller (which I loved) and the graco duo glider (which my husband liked). They didn't have this stroller @ toys r us but i knew they had it at burlington, in stock. so we went there. My 13 month old loved to push it around, he held onto the bar attached to the handle and pushed it around the store. We also had 2 baby trend flex loc carseats attached to it to see what it would be like when the twins arrive. (those are the carseats we purchased). They fit very well. I LOVE how huge the basket is! We have a Jeep huge diaper bag that we currently use for our son and are planning on using for the twins and switching to the small backpack for our 1 yr old. And we put these in the stroller at the store as well and we had room to spare. I have a LARGe purse as well and we put that in there with our coats and still had a lot more room. Im sure once the actual seats are on and not just the carseat adapters there wouldnt' be as much room but for right now it fit it all!
I read the reviews on this before going to the store and it seemed everyone complained about weight and length. so while we were at the store we compared the 2 stollers and yes the kolcraft was longer but that was only AFTER we had a carseat in the farthest away slot, but with the 2 seats (or 1 seat in the farthest slot and a carseat close to you) it was just a hair longer. The weight for these two strollers were comparable. They are both heavy, but OF COURSE they are! they are double strollers! We currently have a jeep liberty jogging stroller for our son and that thing is a beast, so this double one i thought was going to be WAY heavier, but it was just about the same as our single jeep jogger. So thats fine!
I did try a few options when collapsing this to see what worked best. This stroller will collapse when you have both carseat adapters on it just fine, no need to remove anything. and if you have 1 carseat adapter and 1 regular seat, it collapses just fine as well. I didn't try it with 2 seats on, as it will be a while before we need to do that!
The MAIN reason I chose this stroller over the graco was when you put the carseats in the graco the seat that is closest to you has to be fully reclined down and you can't get into the basket. which I go in the basket all the time due to diapers/snacks/my purse and so forth. So that was a must! i just didn't want to deal with having to not have access to the basket because thats where everything is! Also the graco, when you put the carseat in the closest to you slot, its half covered up by your parent cubby and cup holder and its hard to get to the actual baby if you need to remove them for whatever reason. I loved that the kolcraft, both carseats were open so you could get to the children. Yes you do have to strap them in (the carseats into place) but its easy enough to just unhook that strap to get the child out. I tested and you can get the child out while the straps in place, but you can just unhook if you wanted.
It steered awesome! Like I said earlier we have a jeep jogger and this steers comparable to that, a nice ride and not bumpy at all. The graco was harder to steer IMO. The only thing that I wish it had was the ipod adapter, which the z003 (tangerine) is the only one currently that comes with the ipod dock for kolcraft contours options tandum. I thought that the z009-twi (twilight) which is what we purchased had it as well, as someone had stated in their review it did, but it does not! which was a bummer for us because we use it quite a bit in our jeep stroller as we both have blackberrys and we plug them in and play music, but that is alright, we can do without that luxury, haha.
As far as the cupholders go and people complaining about not having cupholders with theirs, ours came with cupholders that snap onto the side of the chairs. So idk why not everyone has them. I know the z003 tangerine one has them as well. I tried to see if there was an accessory page to see what you can all buy to go with this stroller and was unable to find such a page. I called Kolcraft as well and she said that you can purchase cupholders that snap on and also new front bars for the seats but not through them. so I think maybe they are through a 3rd party generic brand that just happens to work on this stroller??! Im not sure. Also the additional carseat adapter does only come in Ruby, but really...does it matter? Go buy yourself some navy paint and paint the buttons if it bothers you that much! Also about the carseats not being able to match....again, REALLY? My son outgrew his infant seat @ 6 months due to his legs being too long and even then, we put him in the seat rather than his infant seat around 4 months just becuse then he could look out and see instead of staring at us. Which he loved to look around. These seats you can still face you, but really, if its for 4-6 months only the color shouldn't matter as you are going to be using this stroller hopefully longer than that with the seats only!
I would recommend this stroller for anyone with multiples, or 1 infant and 1 toddler. I am going to use it for my 1 year old until the twins arrive due to the space, as you can use just 1 seat and have the extra area open for the basket! |
I need to remind myself that it is a double stroller!

Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem Stroller - Ruby
I did the research and followed the advice of most. I went to the store and took this baby for a spin. WoW! This stroller is awesome. It is hard to believe it has so many options. The kids love it and hova a blast in it, they love to ride in it when we go for walks. The best part is that it fits in the trunk of my Toyota Yaris with room to spare. I highly recommend it! |
