Exactly what I was looking for

I spent hours researching online to find a stroller that was lightweight but still offered the benefits of a full-size stroller, namely a snack tray and at least some storage space. We already had a little Kolcraft umbrella stroller for the car but I wanted something less cumbersome than my Graco Vienna to keep in the house for strolls around the neighborhood.

While I can't do a full-scale Trader Joe's run with this stroller the way I could with my old Graco, this one is about half the weight and that's especially noticeable when pushing my toddler uphill. I also love the idea of the carry strap--I haven't used it yet but if we go on a bus anywhere it will make the trip even easier. There are a few downsides (I think every stroller has some), but I am very pleased with my choice and would recommend this stroller highly.

Pros:
- really lightweight!
- seat fabric is soft and well-padded (much nicer than most strollers), my son loves sitting in it
- snack tray! (I don't know why so few lightweight strollers have this)
- detachable stroller pack is really convenient
- carry strap
- storage space is decent for a lightweight stroller
- stylish look, not cutesy like other strollers
- easy to put together

Cons:
- it's not really a one-handed fold (but it is an easy two-handed fold and the extra tri-fold is nice)
- no parent cupholder (though the stroller pack can easily hold a bottle of water or a closeable plastic coffee tumbler)
- steering one-handed is sometimes difficult

I formerly wrote this :

I ordered this as a replacement for my Combi city savvy all weather stoller that my husband and 5 year old killed while racing at Ala Moana. There are stress points on Combi strollers that cannot be fixed once broken- I called customer service, warranty, super glue, welding tools, you name it. This is the second Combi stoller to die due to the beloved men in my life racing although the deaths happened three years apart and I guess that is why everyone forgot to take care of the strollers. I guess I just need to ban the older children (husband included) from use (abuse). I loved my other stroller and knew that in order to feel the same love, I would have to get a high quality Combi. The low end ones work great too, but I like the extended visor and the general sturdiness of the higher quality Combis. It is noticeable and Amazon has a great price on it as they are selling it at the local baby store for $130 more. Feel confident that you are buying a solid albeit lightweight stroller that you will use for years as long as my husband doesn't his hands on it.

NOW : It is impossible to close!! The mechanism gets stuck in the locked open position and I have to unscrew the whole unlocking mechanism and pop it out in order to collapse it. AND the footrest snapped off. Aye! Although it still works I have to toss the whole stroller in the open position in the back of the car in order to transport it. And what then is the point of having a lightweight tri-fold stroller if you can't close it?
Had it for a year and a half

I have had this since my 18-month old was born. It is perfect. The wheelbase is shorter than other strollers, but the seat is VERY roomy. It is very easy to maneuver; I can do it with one hand. I can also fold it and lift it into the back of my SUV with one hand. Most of the cloth parts are completely removeable (easily), and I've washed them more than once. The front handlebar is removeable for when the child wants to get in by their self, it has a cup and a snack holder spot, and you can even fold it in half again after folding it (fold it up like a normal stroller, and then fold in the sides to the center), and no, you don't ever have to lock the wheels. I have also reclined my child fully, and never have to do anything with the straps. It fits the combi carseat perfectly, and it locks into place easily. The sunshade is wide, the viewer is good, and the only thing that I've noticed about the wheels is that after a year and a half of national parks and shopping excursions, they are starting to show a little wear (and you can buy more for like $15 from the company). The only complaint that I have is that the basket on the bottom doesn't go that far back, and isn't very easy to get into when the seat is reclined. Other than that, this stroller was so much better than cheaper ones, and so much of a better deal than the more expensive ones. The straps are fully adjustable, and the stroller is super-lightweight. I can put it over my shoulder and carry it with the included strap, and even did it right out of the hospital with no problems.
Side note, the car seat is a bit smaller than other companies, but it is perfect for a newborn or a smaller older baby. I absolutely LOVED it, and didn't worry about my infant's head rattling around.
wonderful stroller

After looking for an eternity for the "right" light weight stroller, I was ready to give up when I accidentally came across the Combi Flex. I bought it without even trying it out in stores and I am so glad I did! I love almost everything about it! It's SUPER light weight and folds down in half and then half again! It will hold a child up to 55lbs despite it being a light weight stroller. Although I know my child will out grow using a stroller before she's anywhere near that limit. That said, there are a few things I wish were better. The canopy needs to be larger and the seat back would be excellent if it sat more upright. Also, if you are a taller person, say 5'8 or taller, it might feel a bit short. Other than that, I think it's perfect! I does take some time to get used to a Combi stroller. A lot of people may say it feels cheap, or not sturdy, but it's the tri-fold design that makes it seem this way. Beacause it folds down twice, there are more joints in this stroller than others. It was designed to be slim and light weight and that is exactly what this stroller is. If you are so tired of lugging your large, overweight travel stroller as I was, but want all the features we've gotten used to, give this one a try. The more I use it, the more I am so happy I bought it.
Love Combi But ...

I can agree with all the points wordsorceress stated in her review!
A few points based on my experience:

-Bought this when my baby was 4 mos old now with a 1 year old living on a 5th floor walk up the stroller is a bit cumbersome.
-The wheels needs maintenance or steering will become diffult!
-The wheels need to locked in order to close the stroller in the trifold otherwise you risk damaging the wheels.
-The carrying strap that combi includes is always a plus!

I'm sure I've forgotten something but overall this is a good stroller for a small/light baby (toddler) or people that don't travel on public transportation as much as I do.
Like it, but could use some improvements

Reviewer: Michael,
I researched all strollers before finally deciding on this one. I have been really happy with it; the handles are tall, it is lightweight, the infant seat was easy to click in and out and as a bonus.....it looks good too! It is lightweight, but it is not quite light and small enough to be my convenient stroller. I still bought an umbrella stroller for small trips or days when I will need trunk space in the car.

There are a couple of things that I would change if I could:
1. Be able to fold with one hand (says you can, but it takes two)
2. Rotating Canopy; I live in a sunny climate and the canopy doesn't do a thing (too high)
3. Better basket; it is flimsy. If I put anything in it, it drags down and hits the wheels. Plus there is a
bar running right through the middle of it, so I can only fit small things
4. The side head cushions are nice, but sometimes fold in and look as if they are trying to eat my baby and made
putting the infant seat in difficult at times
5. Having a parent cup holder would be nice
Wonderful Lightweight Stroller

I did a great deal of research trying to find the perfect stroller. While this stroller is not perfect it does come very close in my opinion.
A few things you should know up front:
1)The basket below is fairly small and if you have a large diaper bag it will not fit. I have a smaller eddie bauer one and it fits perfectly. There is elastic on the back of the basket and that makes it easier to get to the items in the basket.
2)No parent cup tray but if you buy this version it has a stroller pack that you can fit 2 water bottles in and another small pouch. I actually keep one of the small formula bottles and a disposable nipple in it and a diaper so I am ready at any time without having to get into the diaper bag.
Now some high points:
1)Stroller turns great.
2)Easy to fold up
3)Lightweight
4)Folds very compactly
5)Baby is very cozy in it

This stroller based on past similar Combi stroller is a good product overall. Noticed few shortcomings as compared to the old stroller bought some 6 years ago, however, this new one is lighter and more compact when folded. Overall, very good stroller and good experiance so far with the sale as well as receiving this product on time.
Trifold doesn't really work

Reviewer: J. Weischwill,
This is a wonderful stroller, but I purchased it because I thought the trifold would be nice. The trifold feature does not work at all on the fullsize stroller. If you want an easy trifold, get the smaller Combi trifold stroller.
beware of small basket!

After doing a lot of research for the perfect stroller, I bought this one thinking it was going to be The One. When it came I was excited by how lightweight it was and how nice the seat for baby seemed. BUT the basket was a joke. I honestly don't think it would hold more than a wadded up jacket. Sure the stroller came with some clever bags to hold my stuff but I wanted a space I could put packages in. If storage is an issue for you, DO NOT buy this stroller. I returned it and bought the Chicco Trevi instead. It's basket isn't great but much bigger and better than the Combi's.

I bought this stroller in March 2008. It was great light weight stroller and had all the bells and whistles we were looking for when we first bought it. Then shortly after it went downhill from there. The under carriage basket rubs on the back wheel even when you put light items in it. After a little wear and tear the wheels started sticking and didn't maneuver as well as they used to. Now the stroller won't fold at all the mechanism that is used to fold it completely failed. I had to stuff it in the back of my trunk fully open. I expected a little more from this stroller and thought it would have had a longer life for the price we paid.
poor design and quality

I'm not impressed with this light weight stroller. The wheel assemblies are poorly designed which leads to poor manuverability. Even the owners manual refers to possible deterioration of the wheels and advises only applying silicon lubricant. Combined with the fact that one must first lock the front wheels before folding (what a pain) and one must also loosen the chest straps before reclining the seat, and it all adds up to a stroller that is suboptimal. I recommend that you save your money and keep looking for a better quality stroller.
Seemed great at first, now it's junk

Bought this when my son was about 4 mos old and now he's almost 3 years old. Already had a travel system, which I loved and continue to use, but it was not convenient for the babysitter because it was too bulky. She needed something smaller and more lightweight. So we bought this, excited because it seemed like it would be useful for many, many years. It has failed us, but it really did seem great at first.

PROS
Folds small, which is great for my small car
Seemed very lightweight (compared to my larger Travel System stroller)
Stands alone very nicely when folded
Carryon strap looked very convenient for public transport
Got it half price at Babies R Us. Maybe it was a floor model, don't recall why.

CONS
It's not that lightweight. And so when you carry it on your shoulder, OUCH.
Mesh basket not durable. Broke within a few months! (Note: MacLaren umbrella stroller storage much more durable)
Nowhere, other than mesh basket, to hold parent drink/stuff.
Absolutely needs two hands to close properly. Need two hands to collapse it, and then again, two hands to secure that clasp. Mind you, if you don't use the clasp, it doesn't stay shut, so it can't stand by itself.
Clasp is not forgiving. If you have anything in mesh basket or seat (even light blanket), or if fabric gets stuck, it really won't close.
Was never easy to use with one hand, and recently, wheels started to be difficult to turn. Now, they're unreliable and it's unsafe to use.

Have to go buy another stroller, very frustrating.
